Ouroboros and his team are on a mission to explore a nearby valley and clear out the kobold threat. They bring along Thorn to act as a porter, tasked with carrying all the valuables that the party comes across. During this time, Ouroboros and his team teach Thorn about many aspects of the game. The team defeats the Greater Shaman kobold organizing all the tribes, and they leave Thorn in order to do ore-gathering runs for Ragnarok. From the evidence left behind by the Greater Shaman as well as his own research, Ouroboros learns that the valley they had explored was Davyos's Fall, named after the demise of an avatar during the Era of the Gods who had the Devil Blood Berserker class. Thinking this may be the location of a rare or even unique class, he and Velin make a plan to acquire the class. When it becomes clear that Ouroboros will need to sacrifice Thorn, this at first gives him some trouble, but he hardens his heart like his father taught him.
Ouroboros's team rejoin with Thorn in Berum, and together they make their way to Davyos's Fall. There they find the ruins of a city. Within the city is a temple, Hati's Ascent, that was dedicated to the wolf god Hati but has since been corrupted by the archdevil Karrandras the Betrayer. The party fights through corrupted wolfkin and other monsters as they ascend the temple before they face off with a manifestation of Karrandras at the temple's altar. They defeat Karrandras who then offers them a reward for their display of prowess. Ouroboros asks for the power of Davyos, and his teammates immediately subdue Thorn. A ritual is done that takes Thorn's Destiny points and gives them to Ouroboros, allowing him to change his class to a new one. Pleased with the exchange, Karrandras gifts Ouroboros with the Exalted Devil Blood Berserker class, and Ouroboros and his team leave Thorn for dead.
A change has come upon Ouroboros ever since he became an Exalted Devil Blood Berserker. He is obsessed with gaining power, and he becomes distant from his former companions, not even noticing when Velin and Mina left Ragnarok altogether. He spends all his time establishing his faction within Ragnarok, known as the Blood Guard, and maneuvering to become the guild master.
Ouroboros learns of Fang Valley, the home of the wolfkin race, and of Angdrin's plans to conquer the region. He and his Blood Guard join Angdrin's Crimson Snakes in the guise of providing assistance, but at an opportune moment Ouroboros kills Angdrin and assumes command of the Ragnarok forces. Due to his affiliation with Karrandras, the corruption of the wolfkin is an important part of Ouroboros's continuing growth. He lays siege to Thorn's forces, but Thorn's superior tactics and the arrival of the Society of Roses causes Ouroboros to use his class ability to force a contract upon Thorn. The terms are a fight to the death, the winner gaining control of the valley. Thorn is able to increase the stakes, putting their very title, classes, and properties on the line. The ensuing fight is intense, with Ouroboros taking on the form of a greater devil, but he is ultimately defeated by Thorn.
Because he lost the duel and the contract, Ouroboros is stripped of his class and associated abilities. He also loses a full set of armor, imperial deeds to properties, and a Nobility Upgrade Token. Furthermore, the system boots Ouroboros from Ragnarok, and his father is furious when he hears of Ouroboros's failure. They have all but lost all power within Ragnarok. Losing everything, Ouroboros determines to find a way to regain his power. He heads to Fantasia to cash in his last favor with David, an informant Ouroboros used to find out Thorn's real world identity. He learns from David about the likely existence of a quest line that will reward someone with immense power. It includes finding the Red Scourge, an orc chieftain, and managing to impress him in order to become an advisor in his growing army. Ouroboros immediately prepares to travel south to find the Red Scourge.
